I had been wanting to come here for a while, and finally made it—and I must say, it definitely lived up to my expectations!
We decided to share a variety of dishes: several appetizers and one main course, which I think is the best way to try a little bit of everything.
The fish empanadas were delicious, especially with the spicy dipping sauce, which was the perfect complement. The bollo preñado (or “pregnant corn bollo”) was also very good. The sauce gave it a unique flavor when mixed in, though I would suggest making the stuffing more generous. Since it was listed as an octopus bollo, I expected more filling inside, instead of just a few crunchy bits sprinkled on top.
The grilled oysters were another highlight—the smoky flavor really enhanced them, and paired with the toast, they were excellent. The Caribbean prawns were also a solid choice for sharing, though I’ll admit by the third appetizer I was already getting full!
The arroz con coco was tasty, but I do have one more suggestion: if the menu says tajadas (ripe plantains), that’s what should be served—not green plantains. While it wasn’t bad with the spicy sauce, my friends were really expecting traditional Panamanian tajadas.
Overall, the ambiance and service were great, and we were lucky to get a nice table by the window. I would definitely come back.
