Friday night dinner decision - we chose to try out a new place for us, where our friends gave good reviews. La Strega got the vote.
Easy to find at the beginning of Calle 50, parking is a bit challenging when half full (tight area) but at least they have some.
We were greeted upon entry, which was where the hospitality ended. All but one of the many servers seemed upset, as if they all did not want to be there. Getting our order in was a challenge as the waiters kept flying by us, but no one was interested in taking our order. We eventually got our order in :
1) Chef Special Ravioli - excellent dish, but very small size/portion for being one of the more expensive menu items.
2) Fettuccini Strega- served with a white sauce, this is the house special dish which is finished in a half wheel of cheese. Makes for a great show, very food taste and appropriate portion.
3) Pepperoni pizza (for the 4yr old). No issues there.
We were so turned off by the poor mood set my the clearly unhappy and disinterested staff, that we immediately tried to pay our bill and leave. That took 20 mins, after stopping 3 waiters asking for the bill. That step is handled by the young lady at the front apparently as we had to wait for her. There was an issue with our bill, which she was not happy to rectify but after some discussion, it was cleared up.
Getting back into our vehicle was another ordeal, as the attendant allowed a car to be parked super close to my driver door, making it a challenge for me to slip in. After 5 mins of back and forth navigation, we were finally able to leave the restaurant.
Overall assessment - good food, small portions on special dishes, good ambiance, TERRIBLE service. We will not visit there ever again and do NOT recommend visiting them, unless you want to get aggravated at what is supposed to be a good restaurant.
Very disappointing experience.
