Hacienda Real Steak House - Mariscos

Como siempre: brutal la comida!!! Hacía muchos meses que no venía al restaurante, pero fuera de serie todo. Probamos el menú ejecutivo de Filete de res y Fajitas de res, ambos estaban deliciosos. Viene con sopa de entrada, el plato fuerta, bebida y postre. Todo por $13.99, la verdad que es una opción sensacional. Regresaré muy pronto para probar los otros platos del menú. A+

Excelente restaurante con comida deliciosa, la atención es relativamente buena, con fallas esporádicas en el área de afuera debido a que algunos comensales quieren encender cigarros, lo cuál está prohibido, sin embargo los meseros se quedan callados y tiene el comensal que llamarlos para colocar la queja y que ellos entonces hablen con los fumadores. En general la comida es muy muy buena, lo cual hace del mismo un lugar al cual vas a querer regresar.

We were familiar with the restaurant, but never visited the Ave. Balboa location, so we decided to check it out on a Friday night, since we were in the mood for meat. Located in the mall, there is parking available, though it gets really full at the end of week due to all the restaurants there. There's also valet available end of week as a result, if you choose to drive. We had a reservation through Degusta and got seated right away. We chose to sit upstairs, which provides a bit better view of Ave. Balboa and the ocean. The ambiance is comfortable but a bit noisy due to a birthday party group and the three man band offering to serenade couples. The menu is Argentinian churrasco, which means various options for beef, lamb, chicken & pork. We went with the Mar y Tierra Bandeja for 2, which is a combo order of Fish, shrimp, beef and chicken served on a sizzling skillet, with your choice of 2 sides for each of us. The verdict - the beef was good, not super tender, but cooked well - the chicken breast was very good - grilled to perfection, very tasty without any sauce - the shrimp was overcooked, making it dry and tasteless and the fish was also a bit dry - it stuck to the skillet and we lost about a quarter of it as a result. The sides were fine - steam vegetables was just cut up zucchini and carrots with a little bit of bell peppers - rice with guandu was somewhat dry - mashed potatoes and corn were ok. For deserts, we had the brownie a la mode, which was served hot and was very good (had melted chocolate in the middle of the brownie). Overall, we came away feeling that, for the prices they charge and the OK service, this was an overvalued experience. The interesting thing was that I suggested we go somewhere else, that we know would deliver great service, as they always do, but my wife really wanted meat and thought this restaurant would not be as pricey. As things turned out, we would have spent about the same amount of money for what would very likely have been a better overall dining experience. Bottom line - highly unlikely we'll be re-visiting anytime soon.

End of the month date night was upon us, so we decided to visit a location we haven't been to in awhile, so we chose Hacienda Real. Surprisingly, there was ample parking available on a quincena Saturday night - making it easy to get in. Service was excellent from our entry into the restaurant, which has been a bit of a constant there. We were quickly seated and reviewed the menu. We both noted that the prices in general have increased quite a bit + the menu was a bit limited, compared to the last time we visited. In fairness, it's been over 2 yrs since our last trip there, so a lot can change in that time frame. We decided to do a Parillada - the Surf & Turf (Mar y Tierra), chased with a Margarita for her and Red Sangria for me. The sizzling platter can with - Chicken (Leg&Thigh). 2 Chorizos, Sirloin steak, Corvina & 3 Large shrimps. For sides, we had Yuca frita, Guandu rice, Guacamole & Patacones. Everything was well prepared, with the only exception being the steak, which we wanted done medium, but it came out medium rare, which was not the ideal level for the wife. That aside, everything else was tasty and in good portions. For desert, we tried the 4 Chocolate layer cake, which was very good and a fitting close to the meal. Out server was excellent - very attentive, responsive and always available. very professional. Good ambiance overall, not too loud, even with a large birthday group adjacent to us. It was a good meal and a pleasant time for our date night out. We enjoyed a discount, which made the pricing more reasonable , representing a solid value, all things considered. We recommend a visit.

Hacienda Real continues to be provide an overall good dining experience when you are looking for decent steak. The seating area is very expansive and airy, allowing for a very comfortable feeling. The service is not the fastest or most attentive - this is the only area that I would say they need to improve. It is not terrible, but certainly could be better. We like that they provide a warm broth to start - this helps get your taste buds going and in the mood for steak. I ordered the Shrimp & Steak (good sized shrimp and tasty, well prepared steak) with salad and patacones - all good. The wife had Grilled Corvina (healthy serving and cooked well) with salad and yuca - also all good. Our son had his usual Chicken fingers w/fries - which he ate completely (very good for a 3yr old) and for desert, we tried the Brownie a la Modes - can't go wrong with that. They offer a decent selection of wines, beers and cocktails, though only one type of wine by the glass (red & white). Overall, it is a good value in a comfortable setting that will have something for everyone to enjoy a good meal.
