Sugoi (El Cangrejo)

I was in the neighborhood so I went back solo for lunch today. I am very happy I did. I ordered the appetizer of the Tuna Tataki and a main course of the Filete Tsugoi. The Tataki came out quickly with a very nice presentation and the preparation and taste were right on. The tuna was seared on the outside and the center was warm and tasty. The Filete was not what I expected at all. It was not a steak with an avian sauce, but more of a Negamaki. Thin sliced filet wrapped around scallions With and Asian sauce. It was excellent! I hope that when I go back again the Filete is still on the menu and the chef is the same.

Tsugoi is a very nice place, but as soon as you walk in the smell of a floral disinfectant or cleaner comes over you. The menu is quite varied.Many of the items use the Asian name and ingredients and if you are not familiar with them, you may not really know what the item consists of. We ordered many items know we will share our plates. Miso soup was very good. Tuna Carpaccio was nothing extraordinary, and it should have been served colder in my opinion. The Tuna Tataki was a bit fishy and again, should have been served colder. Interestingly, almost all of the dishes go by their respective Asian names except the Yakitori, which is called bay its Spanish name of "brochetas". We ordered the brochetas of chicken and beef fillets, along with a spicy tuna roll and another "crunch" roll. called Toriniku. The beef fillet and the chicken yakitoris were quite good, but the spicy tuna roll and the other Toriniku were quite fishy. In fact the Spicy Tuna was too fishy to consume. There are many Japanese restaurants popping up all over Panama and, in my humble opinion, Tsugoi better improve on their fish quality and freshness if it wants to stand out amongst their competition.

Mi familia y yo queríamos degustar algo diferente y escogimos ir a Tsugoi, lugar con una decoración acorde con la filosofía japonesa sencilla y de buen gusto. Desde que llegamos la atención fue muy esmerada lo cual nos agrado mucho. Comenzamos pidiendo un Tsugoi roll de entrada que vino suficiente y bien preparada para tres personas. Continuamos con los platos fuertes, inclinándonos por los especiales como Yakineshi langostino, que venia acompañando de un caldito delicioso, arroz japones y una generosa porción de langostinos que me encantó! Mi esposo pidió Yakisoba filete con fideos y salsita muy ricos, se desencanto porque creía que traía el caldo, pero gentilmente se lo trajeron y quedo feliz. Mi hija prefirió Yakisoba de pollo, igual con fideos muy bien preparados que quedo complacida.. Estamos seguro de que regresaremos a este restaurante y creo que deben probarlo además de lo céntrico y limpio que es.

El servicio estuvo excelente, felicito a Eduardo y al equipo, ordenamos una pizza japonesa, un tuna tataki, un maguro roll, tempura de vegetales, entre otras opciones. Recomendado, y siempre volvemos.

Excelente el menu y promos, ordenamos atun tataki, lava roll, tori fingers, pizza entre otras. El servicio estuvo muy bien.
