In terms of food we had a bad experience. The restaurant decor an environment is festive although the music was too high. We went on a Sunday for lunch and the place was crowded. The appetizers consisted of torrejitas de maÃz, which were very good, a ceviche, which was incredible lemony, and the puerco glaseado, which could have been outstanding if not for the fact the it was all fat and no meat. Main course was macarrones con gallina, which was atrocious, completely inedible and was sent back. The owner came to apologize and gave as an excuse that the chef knew about it, but because of an overbooking the dish was not prepared properly since they had ran out of the ingredients, and my reply to her was that she should have rather not serve that dish to her patrons knowing that it was horrible instead of exposing her restaurant to bad reviews. The next dish was Lechona, the problem here is that I guess they tried to stretched the serving because it was at the most 3 small pieces of meat on the plate. The sancocho was bland and had a funny taste and the fish escabeche was just ok, but the arroz con coco served with the dish tasted too sweet and with no hint of coconut flavor. Unfortunately, a good environment does not sustain a restaurant if the food is barely mediocre. If the owners can improve on their food and plan for an increment of diners, they should be successful.
