Fonda Lo Que Hay
I had been wanting to come here for a while, and finally made it—and I must say, it definitely lived up to my expectations! We decided to share a variety of dishes: several appetizers and one main course, which I think is the best way to try a little bit of everything. The fish empanadas were delicious, especially with the spicy dipping sauce, which was the perfect complement. The bollo preñado (or “pregnant corn bollo”) was also very good. The sauce gave it a unique flavor when mixed in, though I would suggest making the stuffing more generous. Since it was listed as an octopus bollo, I expected more filling inside, instead of just a few crunchy bits sprinkled on top. The grilled oysters were another highlight—the smoky flavor really enhanced them, and paired with the toast, they were excellent. The Caribbean prawns were also a solid choice for sharing, though I’ll admit by the third appetizer I was already getting full! The arroz con coco was tasty, but I do have one more suggestion: if the menu says tajadas (ripe plantains), that’s what should be served—not green plantains. While it wasn’t bad with the spicy sauce, my friends were really expecting traditional Panamanian tajadas. Overall, the ambiance and service were great, and we were lucky to get a nice table by the window. I would definitely come back.
Katané Pizza (San Francisco)
A small but nice place to eat with family and friends. I admit I’m not a pizza lover not because I don’t like them but mostly because I try to avoid carbs as much as possible. But…. when I feel like indulging, I truly indulge and enjoy every single bite of it. of course, the Katané pizza is the best one of all! Staff is friendly and food is served pretty quickly.
Espeziak
The restaurant is quite cozy and the ambience truly nice, romantic if on a date. We didn’t get a table on the nicest side of the restaurant but closer to the bar and terrace, however, it worked in our favor as somehow, it felt kind of private for our party of 8 so we were able to keep a nice conversation without the noise from other people. As for the food, everything was delicious, we truly enjoyed every single bite of it, from the appetizers to the main course and mocktails. By the end of the meal, we were so full, we shared one dessert, though maybe it’s a little setback that the dessert menu is very limited, yet, it was delicious but then again, in my case, dessert is not entirely my weakness. You definitely need to try the Montadito de Berenjenas, the Cachopo Real and Arroz Negro de Pulpo Crocante….you won’y regret it!
Selvática
I’ve loved this place from the beginning but after my last visit, I am reconsidering whether I should keep it as one of my favorites or not. I understand personnel needs to close at closing time to leave the premises ready for the following day, however their lack of manners or worse, customer service is now really becoming annoying. I had my reservation under Degusta with the discount and automatically they assumed each one would pay their tab, and when I wanted to have everything back in one tab, of course, the discount no longer applied with the excuse that they had already issued each bill. The food was still good though few things ordered never came. I was even more disappointed because I had told my friends of this place, let’s say they left feeling like not going back. Anyways, they used to be more friendlier, now it was more like kicking us out of the place, which I do not appreciate. So as much as I may like dessert there, that’s not the o my place if customers are going to be treated like second class citizens, especially when it’s around closing time.
Fuego y Fierro
Nice place to dine with family and friends. The service was fantastic and I did enjoy the food, every single bit of it. The picaña Angus was just perfect and how I like my steak, medium rare and the salad was delicious with a light touch of strawberries. As for dessert, loved the flan de Baileys, though I’m not a chocolate lover, admit the brownie was good too☺️. In spite of loving and enjoying very much my food, I’m giving them 4 stars because for the dipping sauces, they serve too little, especially when it has to be shared. If you request additional dipping sauce, there will be an extra charge. other than that, everything was perfect. The restaurant is easy to miss if you don’t see the sign, as it is set in a remodeled house, but the ambiance is cozy though needs more lighting in some spots.
Selvática
It never disappoints me as I always enjoy the food and the place, especially when meeting friends or family. Love the Selvática chicken salad, and though this time I did not order dessert, the passion fruit cheesecake is a must, which I’ll make sure to get soon🤣
Kingpot
It is a nice place to go with family and friends. The staff is very friendly and always ready whenever you need something. The food, overall is good, the price per person is reasonable and love that I can make my own dipping sauce. The broth spicy or non-spicy is delicious, and I love the seafood, always taste fresh (as I’m allergic if not) and definitely the portions are also enough to share. It’s a good place to go with friends and family.
Segundo Muelle (Altaplaza Mall)
The restaurant is a nice place to sit and enjoy with family and friends. If you want to unwind a little after work, then go either with colleagues or meet some friends at the end of the day. When doing this, the best option, instead of ordering a main dish, order few appetizers to share, that way you can enjoy and try a little bit of everything. The tartar of atún is one I recommend, but a must, deinitelt, the ceviche. Teri Maki is another one I really enjoyed but the patacones acevichados was delicious!
Selvática
It’s truly a cozy and nice place to sit and enjoy a nice meal or snack with family and/or friends. Food is good, for me, it’s simply comfort food.
Lucca Trattoria (El Cangrejo)
The food is really good and I would give 5 stars but gave 4 instead because the service is too slow, not only that, the waiting time for our dishes was for more than 40 min and by the time we were served, food was less than warm. Don’t get me wrong, food was good but it would have been much better eating it still hot . We had to inquire about our order because it was taking too long. We were offered focaccia to accompany it with our carpaccio and the carpaccio came when we almost finished the focaccia, we had to ask for everything, otherwise, things would not come to the table right away.
