One of our favorite places to be in Panama City!! Service is great and you cant beat the view of the ships going through the Canal....Janeth was our server tonight and she is so sweet and personable.... Very attentive!!

If I enjoy a particular restaurant I usually wait to write a restaurant review until after I have made several visits ( weeks and/or months apart) to ensure the quality is consistent with my first visit. This method has served me well, and it certainly is true in the case of the Smoke Shack. My first visit to the Smoke Shack was in early January 2013, and I was thrilled to find what I considered to be the best BBQ outside of the States here in Panama - including the cole slaw, and onion rings. My second and third visits, alas, were very different experiences, and based on this, I will not be back. I ordered the exact same thing each time as my first visit - the BBQ pork sliders with a side of onion rings. On both my second and third visits, the portions were significantly smaller. Those delicious homemade onion rings I enjoyed my first visit were now the frozen manufactured kind and half the amount. The heaping BBQ slider sandwiches were but mere shadows of their former selves. I was heartbroken! I thought for sure I had found my BBQ valhalla here in Panama City, but alas, it is not to be. The service had slipped as well.....in typical Panamanian fashion, we seemed more a nuisance to our waiter rather than customers to be taken care of. There were 5 of us in my party, and our total lunch bill came to 85.00 for mediocre food and below average portion sizes. I had only water to drink, my husband had a beer, my daughter a diet coke. Our friend's slim glass of lemonade cost 4.50, and another's ice tea was 2.50 (no refills of course!). My husband's Atlas beer was 2.50/apiece. For a weekend casual lunch, this bill was outrageous. I had such high hopes for the Smoke Shack! I hope your experience will be a better one.
